Story of Crater Lake
7700 years ago, at the top of Mount Mazama, a volcanic eruption created a huge bowl-shaped structure. Over the centuries, rainwater and melting snow continuously flowed into the crater, gradually evolving into today’s Crater Lake. The deepest lake in the Western Hemisphere and the third-deepest in the world, its striking blue water is one of the most pristine on earth.
Located in southern Oregon, Crater Lake National Park is the fifth-oldest national park in the United States, having been established in 1902. It has long attracted the wonder and admiration of people all over the world ever since.
